The interface consists of four main parts:
- The theme. Here the user can play back the current theme
and bring up an editor for the main theme. A miniature graphical
representation of the theme is presented. The editor allows the
user to change note and timing information in a theme or variation.
- The variations. The user can play and edit each variation. Each
variation is labeled with a name and given a miniature graphical
representation. The user can also select which variation appears
in the view area. New variations can be added to the system as
modules.
- The variation view. Shows a larger, more detailed graphical
view of the variation as well as some information about the
variation, including first and last note, key (best guess), and
length. More information could be added as additional modules.
- The main controls.
- Mark: tags this page as an interesting place to return to.
- Redo: recalculates variations on the current theme.
- Go: makes the selected variation the theme and calculates
new variations on it.
- Back: steps back to the previous page.
- Forward: goes to the next page, if one exists.
- Tree: brings up a tree representing decisions made for
browsing and navigating the space of variations and decisions.
